March 20-23

Important Information about our field trip to Jefferson City:
  • We will be taking a charter bus to Jefferson City on Wednesday.  The bus will leave school at 7:15 am.  Students need to report to their classrooms by 7:00 am.  If a student arrives late, they risk the chance of being left behind.  We will return to school at 4:30, please pick your child up in the front parking lot.
  • We ask that students bring a small healthy morning snack to eat on the bus.  Students may bring books, magazines, travel games, crafts, etc. to keep them occupied on the bus ride (no electronics please).
Next week your child will...
  • Make their own rock in science class!
    • Bring an item to fossilize on Monday!  This can be a small chicken bone, leaf, shell, or flower.  Students will make these models in class and examine them later in the week.
  • Share rock and mineral samples with the class
    • Students may bring in a few of their rock or minerals from home to share with the class.  We plan on sharing on Tuesday and Thursday during class time.
  • Continue learning about adjectives
  • Begin learning about the layers of the Earth
  • Take a test over the Fifty States and Capitals
    • Students will need to know all the state locations and their capitals.
  • Begin a geometry unit and learn about the different types of lines

  • Our final book club volunteer opportunity is approaching.  The book club meetings will be held April 20th (12:15), April 27th (11:15), and May 4th (12:15).  If you are interested in leading a book club please let us know by the end of next week!
  • We have distributed Scholastic Book Orders to students who are interested.  The class code to order online is: HFWTD.  Every online order earns our grade $3 in books for the classrooms!
  • ECC/Lower School Transition Night is Thursday April 19th from 6-7pm.  This is an event for parents and guardians of current toddler through fourth grade students.  This is a casual and informal opportunity for you to meet the teachers, walk through the classrooms and see examples of current student work.  We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about what's to come in the next school year.
Here's to another successful week!
