November 17-21


This week the fourth grade: 
  • Went to Earthworks!
  • Created a power point project about the animal they researched in science and their experience at Earthworks
  • Multiplied by multiples of 10 and 100
  • Used breaking apart and estimation to multiply larger numbers
  • Continued working on our independent reading contract
  • Began a unit about nouns
  • Reviewed what action verbs, prepositional phrases, and contractions are for our independent reading projects
  • Made a scrapbook of the Midwest region (Midwest region test on Tuesday, Nov. 25)
  • Continued our holiday poetry unit
  • Began a Thanksgiving persuasive writing assignment
Next week we will:
  • Take a test over the Midwest region
  • Share our power point projects
  • Begin our nouns unit
  • Finish our independent reading contracts
  • Use rounding to estimate when multiplying
  • Increase accuracy in math by asking ourselves whether or not our answers are reasonable
  • Read our "Duck On a Bike" published books to our buddies and help them create a turkey Thanksgiving project
  • Publish our Thanksgiving persuasive writing assignments
  • Recognize similes, metaphors, and personification in the book Owl Moon
