December 1-5

This week the fourth grade: 
  • Began reading second quarter book club assignments
  • Identified proper and common nouns in sentences
  • Practiced forming plural nouns correctly
  • Began learning about Earth's layers and it's characteristics
  • Reviewed Topic 5 to took a test 
  • Finished our Midwest scrapbooks
  • Continued our holiday poetry unit
  • Mapped the westward expansion trails and discuss how most of them began in Missouri
Next week we will:
  • Learn all about tectonic plates in Earth's crust
  • Identify and correctly form possessive nouns
  • Begin Topic 6 in Math:  Developing Fluency with Multiplication
  • Continue our second quarter book clubs
  • Discuss the Missouri Compromise and how Missouri became a state
  • Learn to read population density maps
  • Study the unique landforms found in the Southwest
  • Write a Christmas story by "rolling" a character, setting, and conflict with dice

  • Thursday, 12/11:  Science Club, 7:30 am in Mrs. Van Maren's classroom
  • Friday, 12/12:  Book Clubs, 12:30-1:00
  • Tuesday, 12/16:  Nouns Test
  • Wednesday, 12/17:  Math Club, 7:30 am in Mrs. Stephenson's classroom
  • Wednesday, 12/17:  Science Quiz over Earth's Layers 
  • Friday, 12/19:  Book Clubs, 12:30-1:00
  • Friday, 12/19:  Ice Skating trip in the morning, homeroom parties at 2:30
  • Tuesday, 1/6:  School Resumes following Christmas Break
  • Friday, 1/9:  End of Second Quarter
