This week the fourth grade:
- Began a new class novel, How to Eat Fried Worms
- Reviewed multiple digit times one digit multiplication and took a test on Friday
- Studied the land, water, climate, products, and natural resources of the Midwest region of the United States
- Compared and contrasted the lives of the Missouri and Osage tribes of Native Americans
- Wrote creatively by choosing prompts from a new BINGO choice sheet
- Identified physical and behavioral adaptations of animals to help them survive in their environments
- Created a unique animal on www.switchzoo.com and identified adaptations it has to help it survive
- Classified parts of sentences focusing on subjects and predicates
- Created posters for our wordly wise words next week
- Continue reading How to Eat Fried Worms
- Note: This novel has some very impressive vocabulary words! In addition to their daily post-reading activities, be sure to check out the students' daily vocabulary work. This is completed in the classroom.
- Continue our study of multiplication in math with Topic 7: Multiplying by 2-Digit Numbers
- Investigate the landmarks and culture of the Midwest
- Discuss what life was like for the first European settlers in Missouri
- Continue building our writing skills with the use of wpponline.com
- Identify prepositions and objects of the preposition in sentences
- Begin preparations for Earthworks by applying for a scientific job specific to the habitat they will work in
- Discuss ways ecosystems change over time and how it affects the organisms in those ecosystems
