Our final book clubs will meet in April. If you are interested and available to host our last group of the year, please check your calendars and let us know. The dates will be 4/10, 4/17, and 4/24.
This week the fourth grade:
- Began a unit all about rocks and minerals
- Identified minerals by examining luster, streak color, and hardness
- Created a flip chart to review comparative adjectives
- Continued working on long division
- Created "What State Am I?" puzzles
- Synthesized all the writing skills we have worked on this year to free write in our journals
- Organized state research into categories in preparation for our state persuasive speech
- Began a new class novel: 4S is reading a biography about Walt Disney, 4V is reading Sign of the Beaver. (each class will read the other novel in May)
- Review long division for a test on Thursday, 3/26
- Review adjectives for our unit test on Friday, 3/27
- Continue reading our class novels: Sign of the Beaver (4V) or Walt Disney: Young Movie Maker (4S). Each class will read the other novel in May.
- Begin learning about the three types of rocks and how they are formed in Earth's crust
- Use our graphic organizers to write a rough draft of our state persuasive speech.
- Peer revise and edit our persuasive speech and conference with Mrs. Stephenson about our writing.

Middle, Lower, and ECC Parents:
Meditation Workshop
Tuesday, March 31st 4:00pm - 5:00pm
Adults, being in charge, make rules and guidelines for the
well-being of the children. But what about the well-being of the adult? What
about yourself? Meditation is a very simple and helpful practice, an
adult time out, if you will.
This workshop will include the following regarding practice of meditation:
- Introduction
and overview
- Effects
regarding health, i.e., stress reduction, improved blood pressure, etc.
- Change
of focus from outer chaos to feeling of inner peace
- Improved
concentration
- Easy
accessibility -- can be done anytime, anywhere
- Different
ways of meditating
- Guided
meditation of five minutes, to demonstrate the benefit of even a short
period of practice

Teaching Empathy Through Reading with Your Child
Tuesday, April 21st
Two classes available:
11:45am - 12:15pm
4:00pm - 4:30pm
We read to our children almost every day. Would you like to
