Our Jefferson City field trip has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 7. Please email us if you would like to attend this trip!

This week the fourth grade: 

• Finished fourth quarter book clubs
• Compared and ordered fractions
• Reviewed Topic 11 math concepts in preparation for our next test (test on 4/29)
• Practiced our persuasive speeches for the 50 States Fair (please also practice at home!)
• Researched how and when our states became a state and creatd a class VoiceThread
• Identified and correctly use possessive pronouns and contractions with pronouns
• Discussed how lightning is an example of static electricity
• Experimented with static electricity '
• Conducted an experiment with salt and pepper and a charged balloon
• Celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends Day!
• Participated in an Earth Day scavenger hunt on the field

Next week we will:

• Begin learning about different types of circuits
• Begin reading Sign of the Beaver (4S) and Walt Disney (4V)
• Review pronouns and take a test on Thursday, 4/30
• Review Topic 11 in math and take a test on Wednesday, 4/29
• Begin Topic 12:  Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Mixed Numbers with like Denominators
• Turn in our State Float Projects (due on Tuesday!)
• Continue practicing our speeches
• Note: Please encourage your student to also practice at home! They can recite their speech to a family member on the phone, record themselves on iPads and phones, or just practice in front of the mirror. This will ease their nerves and help them feel comfortable on the big day!
• Celebrate with our 50 States Fair on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in the 2nd Floor Commons

• Tuesday, 4/28: State Float Project Due
