| Proud Winners of the Spirit Award! Go 4th Grade!!! |
This week the fourth grade:
- Identified singular and plural possessive nouns
- Learned about producers, consumers, and decomposers
- Identified carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores in an ecosystem
- Created a food chain
- Continued reading their book club assignments and journaled daily
- Reviewed 2-digit multiplication
- Studied the landmarks of the Western region
- Heard all about collecting baseball cards when Mr. Oxler (Mrs. Cowan's father) visited our classes to connect our read aloud to the real world!
Next week students will:
- Finish their first book club session
- Begin their study of division
- Discuss adaptations of animals
- Begin learning about Earth's water supply and the water cycle
- Wrap up their study of Western landmarks and culture
- Take a quiz over the Western Region
- Begin writing their first story
Upcoming dates:
- Thurs., 10/18 - Science Club, 7:25 am
- Fri., 10/19 - Pet Blessing, Book Club Meeting, 12:30-1:00, End of Quarter 1, Western Region Test
- Thurs., 10/25 - Math Club, 7:25 am
- Wed., 10/31 - Halloween Parties, 2:15-3:00 pm
- Thurs., 11/1 - Conferences, 12:00-8:00 pm
- Fri., 11/2 - Conferences, 7:30 am-12:00 pm
Other important information:
We are making an effort to contact all parents prior to conferences to check in on your child's progress. If you have not received a positive phone call as of yet, look forward to one next week (we only have a few to go, thanks for your patience).

Pet Blessing will be next Friday, October 15th. Fourth graders are not allowed to bring their pets for this day, but are welcome to bring a picture to contribute to a poster that will acknowledge pets in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Have your child bring this picture next week so it can be included in the poster for the blessing on Friday!

Find some great books to online so we can earn free books for our own classroom libraries, and have selections for students to choose free books when they fill out their punch cards.
