January 24-28


This week the fourth grade: 
  • Continued to study comparative adjectives
  • Ordered fractions from least to greatest (Van Maren)
  • Converted mixed numbers and improper fractions (Cowan)
  • Finished reading Number the Stars
  • Chose three projects to complete for Number the Stars on a bingo sheet
  • Selected their third quarter book club novels
  • Built circuits
  • Began writing their state ABC book
  • Continued researching their state
Students enjoyed the electricity game in science club so much that I promised to post a link so they can play at home.  Play Silicon Spies at http://www.engineeringinteract.org/resources/siliconspies/siliconspieslink.htm.  This website has other science games for kids on topics such as Force and Motion, Sound, and Light.  Enjoy!

Next week students will:
  • Continue to work with fractions
  • Review electricity and take a unit test
  • Create and present projects about the novel Number the Stars
  • Take an adjectives test
  • Begin learning about pronouns
  • Continue working on their state ABC book

  • Thurs., 1/31 - Science Electricity Test (students have been given study guides)
  • Fri., 2/8 - Number the Stars performance at the Coterie, Book Club meeting 2:30
  • Thurs., 2/14 - Valentine's Day!  Parties to be held at 2:30-3:15 in homerooms
  • Fri., 2/15 - No School, Faculty in service
  • Mon., 2/18 - No School, Presidents' Day
  • Thurs., 2/21 - Science Club, 7:25 am
  • Fri., 2/22 - Spirit Day, Book Club meeting 12:30
  • Thurs., 2/28 - Math Club, 7:25 am
  • Fri., 3/1 - Book Club meeting 12:30

The Fifty States Fair presentations will be Thursday, March 28th.   More details will follow as it gets closer to the date. 

The Jefferson City field trip has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd.  This is an all day field trip 7:15- 4:30) and we will need 4-6 parents to join us.  If you are interested please let us know!  Parents who attend with us will need to follow us in their own cars or carpool.

Find some great books to online so we can earn free books for our own classroom libraries, and have selections for students to choose free books when they fill out their punch cards.
