This week the fourth grade:
- Met our preschool buddies and had our first chapel together!
- Identified complete sentences, fragments and run-on sentences
- Began focusing on correct punctuation in sentences, abbreviations, and quotations
- Generated a number pattern that follows a given rule
- Identified features of a pattern that were not explicit in the rule itself
- Wrote rules for number and shape patterns
- Finished Topic 2 in math
- Began our final draft for the Grown Up Rule paper
- Took a Social Studies quiz on landforms and Missouri facts
- Finished reading How to Eat Fried Worms
- Created a flip book about five biomes on Earth
- Identified adaptations animals have to survive in their environments
- Continue our study on the Northeast Region, working on our scrapbook pages
- The Northeast States and Capitals Test will be Thursday October 4th.
- Take a test over Topic 2 in Math on Wednesday
- Students can practice concepts on our math website at www.pearsonsuccessnet.com
- Their login information is located in their trapper behind our class schedules
- Begin reading Stone Fox as a class to model our book club reading process together
- Practice daily journal writing for our reading assignments
- Take a quiz over ecosystems in science on Thursday
- Students can review their science notes in their logbooks that are inside their trappers
- Examine how energy is used in every ecosystem
- Students will turn in their final 10 point Bingo (Social Studies) project on Tuesday
- Finish our final draft for the Grown Up Rule paper
- Take a quiz over subjects and predicates on Tuesday
- This includes complete, simple, and compound subjects and predicates
- Thursday 9/26: Book Club Parent Training, 3:45 in Mrs. Van Maren's classroom
- Any parents interested in volunteering for first or second book clubs are welcome to come to this informational meeting about our book club procedures. Book club dates are listed below. We still need a few parents for first quarter!

- Friday 10/18: End of Quarter 1, Spirit Day, Final Book Club meeting

- Friday 10/25: Conferences, 8:00 am-12:00 pm
Other important information:
Friday 9/27 is our Pet Blessing Chapel. This means that we will meet out on the field in the morning to bless all of our pets. We ask that fourth graders do not bring their pets on this day, but instead reserve this treat for our younger students. Instead, we are asking students to bring a photo of their pets to share on a poster we will have on display during chapel this week.

Quarter 4: April 4, 11, and 21. (Note the last meeting in this group will have to meet on a Monday instead of Friday due to Good Friday)
