May 4-8

This week the fourth grade: 

• Subtracted fractions with like denominators, added and subtracted fractions on a number line, and studied improper fractions and mixed numbers
• Completed an online tour of the Missouri government in preparation for our Jefferson City field trip
• Wrote essays nominating our grandmothers or special friends for a contest
• Continued reading Sign of the Beaver (4S) and Walt Disney (4V)
• Built a series and parallel circuit to see how they power lightbulbs differently
• Experimented with circuits by altering the amount of power and lightbulbs
• Visited Jefferson City to see the Capitol building and Supreme Court
• Met Supreme Court Judge Patricia Breckenridge
• Participated in the Lower School book swap 

Next week we will:

• Showcase some of our written work for the year for the Writing Fair all next week
• Come by the second floor commons and see what your child has on display!
• Experiment with conductors and insulators
• Take a test over electricity
• Finish reading Sign of the Beaver (4S) and Walt Disney (4V)
• Identify adverbs in sentences
• Review the location and capitals of the 50 states in preparation for a test on 5/18
• Publish our essays about our grandmothers and special friends
• Complete a storybird.com narrative writing project
• Add and subtract mixed numbers and fractions with unlike denominators 
• Perform in our ROAD Rally for preschool-3rd grade and 3rd and 4th grade parents!
